Boral Shingle Repair: The Orlando Owner’s Guide
Boral shingle repair in Orlando typically runs $350 – $850 installed, depending on how many shingles failed and whether the underlayment beneath them took water. We stock Boral-compatible shingles on our trucks and can match most Orlando roofs same-week, not same-month. Most homeowners discover the problem the way you probably did: a shingle in the yard after an afternoon thunderstorm, a dark stain spreading across the ceiling, or granules collecting in the gutter after a wind gust off Lake Eola. Boral stone-coated steel shingles are tough, but no roof product shrugs off Florida’s August heat plus a 45 mph storm cell without eventually needing attention somewhere.
If you’re seeing cracked, lifted, or missing Boral shingles, don’t wait. A single failed shingle lets water find the underlayment, and Orlando’s daily summer rain will exploit that opening fast. Call (850) 303-7235 and we’ll walk the roof, show you exactly what failed, and hand you a written price before any work starts.
Which Boral Models This Applies To
Boral’s stone-coated steel line includes the Boral Steel series, with profile options that mimic barrel tile, flat shake, and classic shingle. The most common models we repair across Orlando are Boral Barrel Tile, Boral Shake, and Boral Slate. Each uses a zinc-aluminum alloy steel core with a stone coating applied over an acrylic base, and each has slightly different interlocking geometry.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most owners don’t know: Boral Steel shingles are not dimensionally interchangeable with Boral’s discontinued concrete tile lines, and the barrel profiles don’t mate with the shake or slate profiles. If a previous contractor “made it work” with a mismatched profile, that’s often the exact spot that fails again. The fix is matching the profile, the color batch, and the panel width to what’s already on your roof. Boral stamps a manufacturing code on the underside of many panels, but after years of Florida sun, that stamp can be illegible. We measure the profile and match what’s on the roof, and we carry the most common Orlando colors on the truck: terracotta, charcoal, mission brown, and slate gray.
OEM Boral panels are always our first choice for the profile match. For some older color batches that Boral no longer produces, we source quality aftermarket stone-coated steel that matches the profile within 1/8 inch. We’ll tell you which we’re quoting and why before you agree to anything.

Signs Your Boral Shingle Repair Is Failing
- Granule loss in the gutter or at downspout bases. Stone-coated steel sheds its stone granules gradually over 15 – 20 years in Orlando’s UV-heavy climate. A handful of granules after a storm is normal; a visible pile in the gutter means the acrylic base is exposed and the steel beneath is next.
- Rust lines or bubbling at nail heads. We see this most on older Boral installs where the original installer used standard roofing nails instead of the neoprene-washer screws Boral specifies. Once the seal fails, humidity from Orlando’s air plus rain creates a slow oxidation point at every fastener.
- Lifted or flapping panel edges after wind. The interlocking tabs on Boral steel panels hold through most storms, but when a panel edge lifts, it usually means the clip or tab that locks it to the panel below has fatigued. This shows up first on north-facing roof slopes and anywhere with a wide open exposure to wind.
- Water staining on ceilings below valleys, headwalls, or pipe penetrations. When a Boral panel fails near a transition point, the leak often presents far from the actual break because water travels along the underlayment before dropping. We’ve traced stains in College Park attics back to a single cracked panel 12 feet away.
- Visible cracking or warping on panels that get full afternoon sun. Direct exposure on an Orlando roof can hit 160°F in July. The stone coating doesn’t crack first; the sealant at overlaps and the acrylic underlayer do. You’ll see it as hairline separations between panels or a subtle wave across a section that used to lay flat.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For a small Boral shingle repair in Orlando, expect to pay $350 – $550 when it’s 1 – 4 panels in a single area with healthy underlayment beneath. If the failure involved water intrusion and the underlayment is compromised, the job moves to $650 – $850 because we peel back the section, replace the damaged underlayment, then reinstall and re-seal the Boral panels with proper neoprene-washer screws.
Every price we quote in Orlando includes the parts, the labor, the fasteners, the sealant, and the cleanup. You’ll see it all as line items before you approve anything, and the price on the paper is the price you pay. If we open a section and find rot below, we stop, show you what we found, and give you a revised written number before proceeding. No surprises at the end. Every Boral repair we do carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the repair fails inside a year, we return and make it right at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely do the inspection part yourself. Walk the perimeter of the house with binoculars and look for obvious lifted edges, missing panels, and granule piles at the gutters. From the ground, that’s safe and useful.
Getting on the roof is not something we recommend. Boral steel shingles have a stone coating that gets genuinely slick with morning dew, and Orlando’s afternoon thunderstorms come up fast. Most roof injuries happen to homeowners doing a “quick look.” Replacing a Boral panel properly also means matching the interlock, using the right fasteners, and re-sealing the overlap so the next storm doesn’t pick up where the last one left off. That’s work we do with the right tools and a written guarantee behind it. Greg Holloway walks every Orlando roof himself before quoting a number, and he’ll show you exactly what failed in plain terms. Call (850) 303-7235 and we’ll take it from there.
FAQs
Boral stone-coated steel carries a manufacturer warranty of up to 50 years, but the realistic service life for the stone coating and sealant points on an Orlando roof is 20 – 30 years before repairs become more frequent than not. The steel core will outlast the coating, especially on slopes with full western exposure. Call (850) 303-7235 and we’ll give you a straight answer about what’s left in your roof.
A hairline crack in the stone coating can sometimes be sealed, but a crack through the steel core or a failed interlock should be replaced. We’ll show you the difference on your roof. If it can be sealed, we’ll say so. Call (850) 303-7235 for an honest assessment with no pressure.
Most Boral single-shingle or small-section repairs in Orlando take 2 – 4 hours from setup to cleanup. If underlayment replacement is involved, plan for a full day. We’ll tell you the expected time in the written quote before we start.
We keep the four most common Boral profiles and colorways on our trucks for Orlando homes: barrel, shake, slate, and shingle in terracotta, charcoal, mission brown, and slate gray. Less common colors take 3 – 5 business days to source. We also stock compatible parts for GAF, Owens Corning, and CertainTeed so we can match mixed roofs without making you wait.
