CertainTeed Shingle Repair: The Orlando Owner’s Guide
CertainTeed shingle repair in Orlando typically runs $325 – $675 for a standard repair covering 10 – 20 shingles, including materials, labor, and a written guarantee. We stock CertainTeed replacement shingles and matching accessories on our trucks, so most repairs are completed in a single visit, often the same day you call. What usually gets your attention first is either a shingle in the yard after an afternoon storm, or a dark water stain spreading across the bedroom ceiling that wasn’t there last week. By the time you see either, the shingle has already stopped doing its job, and Orlando’s rain does not wait for a convenient moment to find the gap.
Which CertainTeed Models This Applies To
This covers the full CertainTeed asphalt shingle lineup you are likely to have on an Orlando roof: XT 25, XT 30, Landmark, Landmark Pro, Landmark TL, Highland Slate, Presidential Shake, and Grand Manor. The practical difference between models is mostly thickness and shadow-line depth. A Landmark shingle is significantly heavier than an XT 25, so if someone patched your roof before with the wrong series, you will see a visible hump or a mismatched shadow line from the street. The way to confirm which one you have is to check the bundle wrapper in your garage or attic. If that is long gone, we take a measurement on site: Landmark shingles run roughly 13¼ inches wide, while XT series run about 13 inches. That quarter inch tells us which stock to pull, and it prevents us from installing a patch that looks like a patch.
On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question for CertainTeed specifically: we default to genuine CertainTeed stock, because their color lots are tightly controlled, and a mismatched patch is the first thing you will notice every time you pull into the driveway. There are quality aftermarket equivalents, and we will quote them if you ask, but for a repair of this size the material cost difference is usually under $60. The bigger variable is the installer’s care, not the shingle brand. We are an independent roofing contractor in Orlando, not affiliated with CertainTeed, and we carry a range of options so we are never trying to force a square peg into a round hole. We also stock GAF and Owens Corning parts for the same reason.

Signs Your CertainTeed Shingle Repair Is Failing
- Granules collecting in the gutter or downspout. CertainTeed shingles shed surface granules as they age. A sudden heavy accumulation means the asphalt is oxidizing faster than it should, often from trapped heat in a poorly ventilated attic. Once the granule layer is gone, the shingle is running on borrowed time.
- Corners lifting or curling, especially on the west-facing slope. Orlando’s afternoon sun beats directly on the west exposure, and that slope ages two to three times faster than the north side. A lifted corner catches wind, and once wind gets under a shingle, it starts peeling neighbors up with it.
- A water stain on the ceiling directly below a shingle seam. Shingles overlap in a stair-step pattern, and water entering at a seam will often travel along the underside before dropping. The stain on your ceiling may be several feet away from the actual breach. We trace it back from the decking, which is the underside of the roof board you can see from the attic.
- Bare spots on the shingle surface where granules once were. If you can see black asphalt showing through in patches from the ground, the shingle has entered end-of-life mode. It is no longer shedding water efficiently and will fail at the first heavy rain or wind event.
- Shingle pieces in the yard after thunderstorms. An afternoon thunderstorm is common enough in Orlando, but shingle pieces on the lawn are not normal. This means a shingle seam has already opened and wind is tearing sections away. The next storm will take more.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For a standard CertainTeed shingle repair on an Orlando single-family home, expect to pay between $325 and $675. Small areas under five shingles sit at the low end. Larger patches, two-story homes, steep pitches, or repairs near flashing or ridge cap run toward the higher end. Every quote includes the shingles themselves, any underlayment patching, nails, and the labor to remove and reset the section properly. There is no parts-and-labor split to surprise you later. We hand you a written price before any work starts, and if we find something behind the shingles that changes the scope, we walk you through it and get your approval before proceeding. Every repair carries a written guarantee, and if that repair fails inside the guarantee period, we return to correct it at no charge under our 365-Day Done Right Promise. The Kingswell Way is simple: say the price before the work, show up in the window we gave, leave the place cleaner than we found it, put the guarantee in writing, and come back if it fails.
DIY or Call Us?
There are things an owner can safely do from the ground: photograph the damaged area for reference, clear obvious debris from the gutter that may be backing water up, and compare the broken shingle piece against the rest of the roof to note the color and profile. What we do not recommend is ladder work on a two-story Orlando home, especially after rain when concrete tiles and asphalt shingles are both slick. Walking a shingle roof in Florida heat also softens the shingles, which means your weight can crush the very material you are trying to save. If the damage is on a single-story section you can reach from an eight-foot ladder, a temporary patch is possible, but the bigger risk remains hidden water that has already found the decking. That is the part nobody sees until we lift the shingles. If you want an honest read on what you are dealing with, call us at (850) 303-7235 and we will walk the roof before quoting a number. Greg Holloway walks every roof himself before writing a quote, so you are not getting a salesperson’s estimate, you are getting a roofer’s.
FAQs
In Orlando’s heat and storm cycle, an XT 25 typically lasts 15 – 18 years, while Landmark and heavier architectural lines can reach 20 – 25 years if ventilation is adequate. West-facing slopes on older roofs tend to fail two to three years sooner than the rest of the roof. That is not a CertainTeed problem, it is a Florida sun problem. If you are near the end of that range and seeing multiple problem areas, a repair buys time but may not be the smartest dollar. Call (850) 303-7235 for an honest assessment and a written repair quote.
Most isolated damage can be repaired, including storm tears, small bare spots, and flashing leaks. The line we draw is when damage spreads across more than about 30% of a single slope, or when the shingles are so brittle they crack the moment we try to lift them. In that case, a patch will fail within the year, and we will tell you that plainly before recommending anything. A written price always comes first, so you know exactly where you stand.
Most Orlando shingle repairs take between one and three hours on site, depending on access and how far the damage runs under the surrounding shingles. We schedule a specific arrival window, and the crew leaves the work area cleaned up the same day. If we find additional damage once the shingles are lifted, we pause, show you what we found, and get your approval before expanding the scope.
We keep common CertainTeed colors and profiles stocked on the truck, including the most-used Landmark and XT shades across Orlando homes. For less common colors or premium lines like Presidential Shake, we source from our local supplier, usually within one to two business days. Either way, you will have a written quote before any commitment, and the price will not change at the door.
